Policy
Editorial Standards
The reporting principles that govern every public story, athlete profile, and team page on Beehive Athletes.
What we publish
Beehive Athletes publishes original Utah sports reporting, analysis, athlete profiles, school coverage, and Name-Image-Likeness (NIL) context. Every public page is intended to stand up to scrutiny months and years after the news cycle moves on.
We do not publish wire copy, aggregated rumor, anonymous gossip, or content generated without an editor's review.
Sourcing rules
Every published story carries a visible source trail. Stories cite official athletics websites, school media releases, governing-body publications (NCAA, NJCAA, conference offices), public Utah state government records, and reputable established outlets.
Any claim we cannot verify against the source whitelist gets flagged internally and removed before publish. Unverified claims do not ship.
Photography is either Beehive-original, licensed, or sourced from official athletics communications with credit and rights metadata attached to the file.
Independence
Editorial decisions are independent of advertising, sponsorship, partnership, and athlete-marketing relationships. No sponsor, partner, school, or athlete reviews coverage prior to publication.
Sponsored content, when it exists, is labeled clearly as such and is produced under separate guidelines from editorial work.
Fact-checking and review
Every story is reviewed by an editor before publish. Athlete profiles are reviewed against official roster and athletics-communications material on or before the date listed as 'last verified.'
Stories that depend on time-sensitive facts (rosters, records, rankings) are re-verified on a recurring cadence and the verification date is updated on the page.
Corrections
Errors of fact get a public correction on the affected page. The original error is preserved with a clear strikethrough or note explaining the change, and a short corrections log is published at the corrections page linked below.
Readers who spot an error can write to the contact address on our about page. We respond to verifiable correction requests within five business days.
Athlete safety and consent
Public athlete pages cover only athletes whose names, photos, and roster information are already public via their school's athletics communications.
Athletes or their representatives may request takedown of a profile that is no longer accurate or appropriate. Takedown requests are honored within five business days.
AI-assisted production
Beehive Athletes uses AI tools to assist research, drafting, and graphic generation. Every public page is reviewed by a human editor before publish. AI output is not published without editorial review and is held to the same sourcing standards as any other draft.
